29-year-old arrested in Nicosia after drugs found in vehicle and during pursuit

Nicosia, Cyprus. A 29-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in Nicosia on suspicion of drug possession following a vehicle stop, police said on Wednesday.


Vehicle stop and initial search

Police said the man was pulled over at 12.20pm on Tuesday. After he refused a narcotest, officers searched the vehicle and found 2g of cannabis in the glove compartment.

Pursuit and warning shots

Police said the man pushed two officers and ran away, throwing items as he fled. During the pursuit, two warning shots were fired, and the man was soon arrested.

Additional findings

Police said the discarded items were pouches of cocaine weighing a total of 30g. A further search of the vehicle led to the discovery of five mobile phones, an additional 30g of cannabis and €4,770 in cash.
