Paphos airport

Paphos, Cyprus. Aegean Airlines resumed flights to and from Paphos International Airport last week, with the Paphos regional tourism board welcoming the move as a boost to the district’s air connectivity and tourism prospects. The board said the first flight marked an important step in improving access to Paphos from Greece and through wider international connections via Athens.

Route and frequency

In a statement issued on Monday, the Paphos regional tourism board, also known as Etap, said the Athens to Paphos route will operate three times a week, offering additional travel options for residents and visitors.

Wider international links

According to Etap Paphos, the resumed service will strengthen the district’s links with key tourism source markets through Aegean’s hub in Athens, including Germany, the Scandinavian countries and other European destinations.

Tourism impact

The board said the airline’s return to Paphos International Airport is a positive development for the district’s tourism industry, as it expands available air travel options and enhances the destination’s competitiveness.

It added that improved connectivity is expected to support Paphos’ position as a quality tourism destination and contribute to the continued development of the local visitor economy.

Board statement

“The Paphos regional tourism board warmly welcomes Aegean to Paphos and expresses the hope that, in the near future, the airline will further expand its presence at Paphos International Airport, strengthening the connectivity and prospects of the region,” the board said.

It also said that Etap and its member stakeholders are prepared to work closely with the airline to support its long-term growth in the district.

“The Paphos regional tourism board and the stakeholders that comprise it stand ready to implement joint actions with Aegean, with the aim of supporting the airline’s growth and establishment at Paphos International Airport,” the board said.
