Akamas municipality advances Peyia historic centre regeneration plan

Peyia, Cyprus. Akamas municipality has signed a contract with CE Chrysanthou Architects LLC to prepare a masterplan, technical studies and supervision services for the regeneration of Peyia’s traditional centre.


Contract and costs

The consultancy contract is valued at €248,500. Construction works for the redevelopment are estimated to cost about €5.3 million.

The architectural firm will prepare the overall design and the technical studies required before construction can begin, and will supervise the project’s implementation.

Redevelopment objectives

According to the municipality, the project represents the next stage in efforts to revitalise the village’s historic core through a comprehensive redevelopment plan.

The planned intervention aims to improve the functionality and appearance of the area while preserving Peyia’s traditional character. It will focus on protecting traditional architecture, highlighting cultural heritage and improving public spaces.

The redevelopment is also intended to create a more attractive environment for residents and visitors while adapting the village centre to contemporary needs without affecting its historic identity.
