Nicosia, Cyprus. Former President Nicos Anastasiades was informed on Tuesday morning of the anti-corruption authority’s findings into allegations made against him by journalist and former adviser Makarios Drousiotis in the book Mafia State. Others implicated in the book were informed of the investigation’s findings by email.
Report findings
Anastasiades was briefed on the findings by anti-corruption authority head Harris Poyiadjis. The findings are expected to be announced publicly at 11am.
Scope of the investigation
The dossier is said to be around 3,000 pages long. During the investigation, 150 people were interviewed across 200 sessions, and 793 pieces of evidence were submitted.
Anastasiades’ response
Anastasiades has denied all the allegations made in the book. He also released his own book, The Slanderer, in response.
