Ayia Napa, Cyprus. Mayor Christos Zannetou said on Friday that more than 50 international football teams have chosen Ayia Napa for training camps and pre-season preparations.

Zannetou described the teams’ choice as a significant honour and a vote of confidence in the region’s sports infrastructure.
Sports tourism and municipal investment
He said sports tourism has become an important driver of local development and that the municipality will continue investing in facilities to strengthen Ayia Napa’s position as a preferred training destination.
Plans to upgrade infrastructure
Zannetou said the municipality’s goal is to further upgrade infrastructure and establish Ayia Napa as a leading sports tourism destination.
