Manama, Bahrain. Britain has temporarily pulled some staff and their dependants from its embassy in Bahrain as a precautionary measure, as the United States stepped up its military campaign against Iran on the fifth day of the war.

In Washington, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said the Pentagon and the US Energy Department were working on plans to secure the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the safety of oil tankers, declining to offer details on timing.
