In a statement posted on social media, the bases’ administration said it was grateful for the Republic of Cyprus’ cooperation in supporting the voluntary dispersal of the residents of Akrotiri village. It added that there was an enhanced police presence in the village overnight.

The administration said there were no restrictions in place elsewhere in the Sovereign Base Areas. It said it would continue to provide updates as the situation develops.
