Chevron Cyprus highlights initiatives to tackle gender gap in STEM and entrepreneurship

Nicosia, Cyprus. Chevron Cyprus highlighted its efforts to address gender inequalities in STEM and entrepreneurship as part of activities marking International Women’s Day. The company said women remain significantly underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Underrepresentation in STEM

Chevron Cyprus said that only around 30 per cent of researchers worldwide are women, underscoring a persistent participation gap in high-growth sectors. It added that achieving gender equality requires equal access to education, resources and career opportunities, particularly in fields shaping the future economy.

Programmes and partnerships in Cyprus

In Cyprus, initiatives have been launched to encourage more girls and women to pursue STEM careers, with Chevron Cyprus participating through partnerships and funding programmes. Working with Frederick University and CyprusInno, the company has supported projects offering mentorship, training and scholarships.

STEM Days and Women Entrepreneurs Lab

The company cited the STEM Days programme, which introduces young girls to science and technology through practical, hands-on experiences. It also highlighted the Women Entrepreneurs Lab, which supports women in developing business ventures and strengthening entrepreneurial skills.
