Christodoulides arrives in Mumbai for four-day state visit to India

Mumbai, India. President Nikos Christodoulides arrived at Mumbai airport on Wednesday afternoon to begin a four-day state visit to India. He travelled with a multi-minister Cypriot delegation.


Arrival and welcome in Mumbai

Christodoulides wore a grey Nehru jacket as he descended the stairs of a Cyprus Airways jet. He was welcomed at the airport by Maharashtra state governor Jishnu Dev Varna, chief minister Devendra Gangadharrao Fadnavis, and protocol minister Jaykumar Rawal.

Movement through the city

After the airport reception, Christodoulides and the Cypriot delegation travelled across Mumbai, with roads closed for the visit and electronic billboards displaying welcome messages.

Planned visit to Taj Mahal Palace hotel

Later on Wednesday, Christodoulides is due to visit the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, the site of a 2008 terror attack in which Cypriot national Andreas Liveras died.
