Christos Hadjichristou exhibition in Limassol explores youth and training along the coastline

Limassol, Cyprus. A solo photography exhibition by Christos Hadjichristou, Apovathra / Power Beach, is ongoing at The Edit Gallery, focusing on Limassol’s coastline and the people encountered there. The show brings together two series made along the coast: Apovathra and Power Beach.

Two series along Limassol’s coastline

Apovathra presents portraits of youngsters encountered at the historic pier, with subjects meeting the lens directly. The work is described as creating an immediate exchange that blurs the boundary between viewer and subject, capturing a transitional stage between adolescence and adulthood.

Power Beach focuses on adults training at Dasoudi Beach. In this series, athletes are photographed absorbed in movement with their gaze turned away from the lens, shifting attention to discipline, effort and physical control.

Medium-format process and approach

Hadjichristou works with both analogue and digital medium-format cameras. Film-based works follow traditional development processes, while digital images are approached with the same deliberate pace and attention to materiality, a method described as introducing quiet romanticism and reinforcing authenticity and physical presence.
