Cloudy weather with isolated storms and mountain snow expected through Saturday

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cloudy conditions are expected to continue on Wednesday with intermittent isolated rain or storms, including possible hail, while higher mountain areas may see snow or sleet. Similar conditions are forecast through Saturday, with temperatures gradually rising.


Wednesday forecast

Cloud cover will persist, with isolated rain or storms at intervals. Some storms may be accompanied by hail, and snow or sleet is expected in higher mountain areas.

Temperatures will rise to around 16 degrees Celsius inland and on the coast, and to around 6 degrees in the higher mountains. Snow depth in Troodos measured 27 centimetres this morning.

Winds will be weak to moderate, initially mainly southwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, becoming mainly northwesterly by the afternoon at generally moderate 4 Beaufort, with temporary increases to 5 Beaufort.

The sea will initially be slightly rough to rough and will gradually become rough and wavy in the west.

Overnight conditions

During the night, the weather will be partly cloudy with a chance of local rains. Temperatures will drop to around 11 degrees Celsius on the west coast, around 9 degrees on the rest of the coast, 6 degrees inland, and to 2 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost is expected to form locally.

Winds will blow mainly northwest at weak to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort, with temporary increases up to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough to rough in the west.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday

Thursday, Friday and Saturday are expected to remain cloudy, with rain and isolated storms, while snow or sleet is forecast in the higher mountains. Temperatures are expected to rise gradually over the coming days.
