Coastal walks at Cape Kiti to tour Pervolia Lighthouse exhibition and shoreline

Pervolia, Cyprus. The public is invited to join guided coastline walks at Cape Kiti on Saturday, departing from the Pervolia Lighthouse and including a visit to a new temporary outdoor exhibition titled “Lighthouse.”


Faro Walks schedule and format

Two walks are scheduled for Saturday, with the first running from 9.30am to 11am in English and the second at 11.30am in Greek. The meeting point is the Pervolia Lighthouse, and admission is free.

Focus of the guided walk

Participants are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes. The walk will explore the environmental and cultural significance of Cape Kiti, trace the history of the lighthouse, and outline plans for its future transformation into an interpretation centre about the sea with a research, educational and cultural focus.

Lighthouse history

The Pervolia Lighthouse was established in 1864 and served as an aid to navigation for more than a century before being decommissioned in 1982.

Plans for an ocean literacy interpretation centre

An agreement between the Cyprus Ports Authority and the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute, in collaboration with the Dromolaxia-Meneou Municipality and the Larnaca Tourism Board, aims to transform the lighthouse into an interpretation centre for ocean literacy. The centre is expected to host research and innovation activities, exhibitions, environmental and cultural educational programmes, and events intended to strengthen local identity and support sustainable development.
