Gastria, Cyprus. Conservation work is ongoing at the Panayia Phaneromeni church in the Karpas peninsula village of Gastria, technical committee on cultural heritage co-chairman Sotos Ktoris said on Monday.
Project progress and cooperation
Ktoris described the work as a substantial project progressing through cooperation between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to protecting cultural heritage in Cyprus.
Background on Gastria
Gastria was an entirely Greek Cypriot village until 1974 and was resettled by Turkish nationals from Adana province in the late 1970s.
