Nicosia, Cyprus. Prices of products in the e-kalathi app rose slightly in the first two months of 2026, the Consumers Association said on Monday. The association reported an average total increase of 0.77% for January and February.
Price observatory findings
The data was published through the association’s new price observatory. The association said that, compared with August 2025, a small decrease of 0.51% was recorded.
Product availability on the app
The association said several large supermarket chains operating nationwide continue to offer only a very limited selection of products in e-kalathi. It added that the limited availability significantly restricts consumer choices.
Impact of supermarket pricing strategies
According to daily monitoring cited in the statement, pricing in e-kalathi is heavily influenced by the pricing strategies of competing supermarkets. The association said one supermarket raised its prices while a competitor did not, then reduced its prices the following day to remain competitive.
