Covid-19 and Influenza A hospitalisations rise in Limassol over weekend

Limassol, Cyprus. Hospitalisations for Covid-19 and Influenza A increased over the weekend at Limassol’s district general hospital, according to hospital records. Okypy said admissions rose mainly in the Limassol district.


Admissions increase reported

Speaking to Philenews on Monday, Okypy spokesman Charalambos Charilaou said doctors are observing a rise in admissions, mainly in the Limassol district, where he said numbers changed significantly in the past 24 hours.

Patient numbers at Limassol hospital

The number of Covid-19 patients at Limassol hospital rose from one on Sunday to five on Monday. Influenza A cases increased from 14 to 25 over the same period.

Expectations and data needs

Charilaou said a new increase in cases was expected, citing a typical second wave in late January and early February. He added that data from the health ministry would likely be needed to assess virus activity in the community.
