Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus recorded one of Europe’s lowest shares of children with unmet medical needs in 2024, Eurostat said on Monday. The rate stood at 0.6%.
EU figures on unmet medical needs
Eurostat said the average share of children aged up to 16 with unmet medical needs in the European Union was 3.4% in 2024. Finland recorded the highest rate at 9.4%, followed by France at 5.7%.
Lowest rates reported
The lowest shares of children with unmet medical needs were recorded in Croatia and Malta at 0.1%, followed by Cyprus.
Unmet dental care needs
Eurostat also examined unmet dental care needs among children, with the EU average at 4.1%. Finland recorded 6.2% and Spain 5.7%, the highest rates.
Lowest rates for dental care needs
Croatia recorded 0.2%, Malta 0.5% and Luxemburg 1% as the lowest shares of children with unmet dental care needs.
