Nicosia, Cyprus. Total beer deliveries in Cyprus fell 8.9% in April from a year earlier, according to the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat). Deliveries totalled 3.4 million litres, down from 3.7 million litres in the same month last year.
April volumes and domestic market
Cystat reported that domestic market deliveries declined 3.3% year-on-year as the local industry adjusted to changing demand.
Exports drive annual decline
The steepest drop was recorded in beer exports, which fell 57% during the period. The reduction in exports was cited as the main factor behind the overall annual decline, highlighting a shift in international trade patterns for the sector.
Month-on-month increase from March
Despite lower year-on-year totals, beer deliveries increased 45% compared with March, suggesting a seasonal recovery in delivery volumes.
How do you think the sharp fall in beer exports could affect Cyprus’ brewing industry?
