Cyprus faces strong winds, rain, isolated storms and dust levels under yellow warning

Nicosia, Cyprus. Unsettled and potentially dangerous weather is forecast across Cyprus on Wednesday, with strong winds, rain, isolated thunderstorms and elevated dust levels. A yellow wind warning remains in force until 4pm, with gusts expected to reach 75 to 100 kilometres per hour.


Warnings and atmospheric conditions

According to the met office, dusty conditions are expected to persist until around midday, affecting visibility. Cloud cover is expected to dominate, bringing localised rainfall and isolated storms, while snow is forecast over the Troodos range.

Temperatures and daytime outlook

Conditions are forecast to gradually improve during the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach about 18°C inland and along the Limassol coast, while Troodos is forecast to see values near 6°C.

Tonight’s forecast

Tonight, skies are expected to remain partly cloudy with isolated rain, mainly affecting the Paphos region. Temperatures are forecast to fall to 9°C in Nicosia, 13°C in Paphos and Kyrenia, 11°C in Limassol and Larnaca, and 4°C in Troodos, where frost may develop.

Outlook through Saturday

For Thursday, Friday and Saturday, periods of increased cloud cover are expected at times, but overall conditions are forecast to gradually stabilise. Temperatures are expected to continue rising, reaching above seasonal averages by Saturday.
