Nicosia, Cyprus. The Cyprus Mountaineering, Climbing and Orienteering Federation has filed a complaint against the Cyprus Sports Organisation (CSO), accusing it of systematically undermining the federation and warning it will seek legal action if its demands are not met.

Allegations outlined in lawyer’s letter

In a lawyer’s letter dated March 6, the federation said it had been subjected to selective and harmful treatment, which it suggested may be linked to personal differences.

The federation said its finances, competitiveness and operations have been affected over the past few years, alleging the CSO refused to release approved funding for 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Claims over projects, communication and events

The federation said the CSO rejected requests to develop new disciplines, including ski mountaineering, failed to respond to correspondence in a timely manner, and did not support efforts to host international events in Cyprus.

It also cited the rejection of a proposal to build a climbing wall at Terra Santa College, which it described as a relatively low-cost project.

Response to investigation claim and demands

The federation rejected claims by the CSO that it is under investigation for financial irregularities.

In its letter, the federation called for the immediate release of approved funds, the restoration of proper financial management and communication, and approval of the climbing wall project.
