Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus is expected to see partly cloudy conditions on Saturday with local rain in the west and scattered afternoon showers in the south-east. Temperatures will reach 20C inland and along parts of the east and south-east coasts, with possible sleet or snow on Troodos peaks until early afternoon.
Saturday conditions
Local rain is expected to affect western parts of the island, with scattered showers also forecast for the south-east in the afternoon.
Temperatures will rise to 20C inland and along the south-east and east coasts. On the west coast, temperatures will reach around 18C, while up to 19C is expected in the remaining coastal areas.
In the higher mountains, temperatures will climb to 9C. Sleet or snow is not ruled out on the higher peaks of Troodos until early afternoon. In the morning, 8 centimetres of snow were measured on the highest peaks of Troodos.
Winds will blow from the southwest to the northwest, reaching up to 5 Beaufort. On the windward coast, winds will temporarily increase to very strong speeds of up to 6 Beaufort. In leeward interior areas in the morning, winds will be light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort from the same direction.
Saturday night outlook
Tonight, the sky will be mainly clear with some cloud cover, with a possibility of increased low cloud cover in the early hours, primarily inland and in eastern regions.
Temperatures will drop to around 7C inland, around 9C on the south and east coasts, around 10C in the remaining coastal areas, and around 4C in the higher mountains.
Winds will gradually weaken from 3 to 4 Beaufort from the southwest to the northwest, decreasing to 3 Beaufort. The sea will become increasingly rough.
Sunday and early week forecast
Sunday is expected to be mainly clear with some locally increased cloud cover.
Clear skies are forecast for Monday, with medium and high clouds increasing later in the day and possibly leading to isolated light showers in the evening.
Tuesday is expected to be mainly cloudy with light rain, with storms forecast in the afternoon mainly in the west, the mountains and the northeast.
