Mumbai, India. Registrations for the Cyprus–India Business and Investment Summit have exceeded 400 ahead of its Mumbai edition on January 28, signalling growing interest in bilateral trade and investment ties.
Organisers and participation
The conference is organised by IMH in collaboration with Invest Cyprus and is expected to bring together a broad cross-section of India’s business community alongside a strong Cypriot presence. Organisers say the summit aims to translate strategic alignment between the two sides into concrete commercial opportunities.
Cyprus positioned as gateway for Indian companies
The summit will present Cyprus as an entry point for Indian companies targeting Europe and as an international business and investment centre linking Europe with the Middle East and Asia. Discussions will focus on Cyprus’ operating environment, including EU membership, an English common law legal system, competitive tax structures, a highly skilled workforce and comparatively low business costs.
Policy tools and broader appeal
Organisers said the agenda will extend beyond market access to Cyprus’ wider appeal as a location where entrepreneurship, innovation and quality of life intersect. Participants are expected to be briefed on policy tools ranging from tax incentives to talent-attraction schemes used to support international expansion and long-term corporate presence.
Capital flows and investment platform role
The conference will also examine Cyprus’ role as a conduit for capital flows, including its status as a Foreign Portfolio Investment Category I country. Organisers said this designation enables Cyprus to function as a platform for directing Western investment into India while reinforcing its role as a gateway for Indian companies entering the European market.
Eastern Mediterranean positioning and logistics
Attention will also turn to Cyprus’ strategic position in the Eastern Mediterranean and its relevance within IMEC, the emerging economic corridor connecting India, the Middle East and Europe. The summit will highlight the island’s ports and maritime infrastructure as supporting transhipment, logistics and supply-chain integration, with shipping and logistics forming a further strand of the agenda.
