Cyprus industrial production rises 0.5% in May

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus recorded a 0.5 per cent annual increase in its industrial production index in May 2026, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat). The index reached 116.7 units, based on 2021=100.


January to May performance

Industrial output rose by 1.5 per cent between January and May 2026 compared with the corresponding period of 2025.

Sector results

Manufacturing production increased by 0.8 per cent in May compared with the same month a year earlier. Mining and quarrying rose by 0.5 per cent, while electricity supply remained unchanged.

Water supply and materials recovery declined by 3.4 per cent year on year.

Manufacturing changes

The largest manufacturing increase was recorded in other non-metallic mineral products, up 5.5 per cent. Output in refined petroleum products, chemicals, chemical products and pharmaceutical preparations rose by 4.2 per cent.

Textiles, wearing apparel and leather products recorded the largest decline, falling by 6.4 per cent compared with May 2025.
