Cyprus inflation rises to 3.0% in April 2026, Eurostat reports

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus recorded a year-on-year inflation rate of 3.0% in April 2026, Eurostat reported. The rate rose from 1.5% in March 2026 and 1.4% in April 2025.


Cyprus and broader inflation trends

Across the euro area, annual inflation increased to 3.0% in April 2026 from 2.6% in March, and was higher than the 2.2% recorded in April 2025. In the European Union, inflation reached 3.2% in April 2026, up from 2.8% in March and compared with 2.4% a year earlier.

Differences across member states

Eurostat said the data reflect continued inflationary pressure across member states, with uneven trends. The lowest annual inflation rates were recorded in Sweden at 0.5%, Denmark at 1.2% and the Czech Republic at 2.1%, while the highest were in Romania at 9.5%, Bulgaria at 6.0% and Croatia at 5.4%.

Month-to-month changes in member states

Compared with March 2026, annual inflation fell in five member states, remained stable in one and increased in 21, Eurostat reported.

Main drivers in the euro area

Eurostat said the euro area inflation increase in April was mainly driven by services, contributing 1.38 percentage points, followed by energy at 0.99 percentage points. Food, alcohol and tobacco contributed 0.46 percentage points, and non-energy industrial goods contributed 0.20 percentage points.
