Nicosia, Cyprus. The Met Office has issued an orange warning for extreme heat on Wednesday, forecasting inland temperatures of up to 43C.
The warning will be in effect from 12pm to 5pm on Wednesday.
Temperature forecast
The department said maximum temperatures in Nicosia are expected to reach around 43C, while temperatures in Troodos are forecast at approximately 32C.
Health risk
An orange warning is issued when exceptionally high temperatures are expected to increase risks to public health, particularly for vulnerable groups and people exposed to heat for extended periods.
Heatwave precautions
The warning comes as Cyprus continues to experience an extended heatwave. Authorities have urged the public to take precautions during the hottest part of the day.
