Nicosia, Cyprus. The Cyprus Marine Club welcomed around 200 members and guests to its largest gathering to date for an evening of industry discussion, networking and reflection. The event also featured a keynote address by Prabhat Jha, Group Managing Director and CEO of MSC Shipmanagement Limited.
Club growth and new members
Opening the event, club president Captain Eberhard Koch said the strong turnout reflected the club’s continued growth and the active engagement of its members.
He also announced the addition of two new corporate members, Guma Tech and EMA, as well as new individual member Aristotelis Moutafis, further expanding the club’s maritime network.
Tribute to seafarers
With the event taking place close to the Day of the Seafarer, Koch paid tribute to seafarers around the world, recognising their dedication, resilience and contribution to global trade and the wider maritime industry.
Keynote address
The focus of the evening then turned to Jha, who delivered the keynote presentation, “Cyprus at the Heart of the World’s Largest Shipping Line: The MSC Shipmanagement Success Story.”
Jha was introduced by Sunil Kapoor, Board Member of the Cyprus Marine Club and COO and Partner of OL Shipping Group. Kapoor referred to his long-standing friendship with Jha and spoke about their shared maritime background, as well as Jha’s progression from marine engineer to a senior executive in the shipping industry.
Kapoor also said Jha’s leadership, integrity and contribution to Cyprus’ maritime ecosystem had helped bring value and recognition to the island’s shipping cluster.
Cyprus’ role in MSC Shipmanagement
In his presentation, Jha outlined the development of MSC Shipmanagement and highlighted the strategic role of Cyprus within the group’s global operations.
His address combined industry perspective with personal reflections from his career, offering the audience insight into the company’s growth and the people behind it.
