Nicosia, Cyprus. Police carried out seven arrests across Cyprus on Saturday night during coordinated patrols in urban areas aimed at preventing serious crime and boosting public safety. The arrests involved offences including driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.
Arrests and road checks
Police said officers stopped 666 vehicles for checks and inspected 744 individuals travelling in them. The operations resulted in 233 complaints for various road offences.
Alcohol testing and offences
Police reported 26 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol. A total of 512 alcohol tests were carried out during the operations.
Premises inspections and citations
Police also inspected 57 premises, resulting in six citations.
Ongoing operations
Police said coordinated operations to prevent and combat crime will continue on a daily basis with increased patrols and targeted checks.
