Cyprus president cites 4.5% GDP growth rate as vote of confidence in economy

President Nikos Christodoulides

Nicosia, Cyprus. President Nikos Christodoulides said Cyprus’ GDP growth rate is a vote of confidence in the country’s economy and the result of responsible economic policy, following official data showing 4.5% growth in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Christodoulides comments on Cystat data

In a post on X on Friday, Christodoulides commented on a Cystat announcement that Cyprus’ GDP growth rate stood at 4.5% in the fourth quarter of 2025. He said the figure was the second highest in the European Union and well above the European average.

Focus on investment in public services

Christodoulides said steady economic growth allows the government to invest in improving citizens’ daily lives, strengthening health, education, social welfare and housing policy.

Commitment to current policy

He said the government would continue in the same responsible manner.
