Strovolos, Cyprus. President Nikos Christodoulides on Friday praised the conclusion of a police operation that led to the confiscation of a large quantity of drugs, calling it extremely important for protecting society and young people.
President’s statement on police operation
In a post on X, Christodoulides congratulated the police, the drug squad and state services for working “in a professional manner, methodically and with a high sense of duty”.
He said “successive triumphs” in police operations showed that targeted actions were being systematically intensified as part of a comprehensive strategy to combat crime.
Christodoulides said the effort would continue with a plan, consistency and determination, aiming to shield society and strengthen citizens’ sense of security.
Arrests and items seized in Strovolos
On Thursday, two men aged 34 and 26 were arrested after the discovery of more than 200kg of drugs, as well as weapons and explosives, at a residence in Strovolos.
