Cyprus ranks 11th in EU for 2025 GDP per capita in purchasing power parity, Eurostat data show

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus ranked 11th in the European Union in 2025 for GDP per capita in purchasing power parity, sharing the position with France at 98% of the EU average, according to preliminary Eurostat data published this week.


Method and EU average

Eurostat said the indicator adjusts for differences in price levels across member states and is used to compare the real purchasing power of citizens. The EU average in 2025 stood at €41,600 in purchasing power parity terms.

Top performers

Luxembourg led the ranking at 239% of the EU average, followed by Ireland at 237%. The Netherlands recorded 134%, Denmark 127%, Austria 117%, and both Germany and Belgium 115%. Sweden and Malta each stood at 110%, while Finland, at 101%, was the only other member state above the EU average.

Cyprus and countries below the EU average

Cyprus and France, both at 98%, were just below the EU average. They were followed by Italy at 96%, the Czech Republic and Spain at 92%, and Slovenia at 91%.

Lower rankings

Lithuania stood at 88%, while Poland and Portugal were both at 81%. Estonia reached 79%, followed by Croatia and Romania at 78%, Hungary at 76%, and Slovakia at 75%. Latvia stood at 71%, while Bulgaria and Greece recorded the lowest levels, both at 68% of the EU average.
