Cyprus records about 5,000 unemployed people moving into jobs in Q4 2025, Eurostat says

Nicosia, Cyprus. About 5,000 unemployed people aged 15 to 74 in Cyprus moved into employment in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to Eurostat labour market flow data released on Friday. The figure was slightly lower than the roughly 6,000 recorded in the third quarter.


Cyprus labour market flows

Eurostat’s figures, expressed in thousand persons, showed continued movement from unemployment into employment in Cyprus at the end of 2025. The fourth-quarter total of approximately 5,000 was described as indicating a modest slowdown from the third quarter.


European Union overview

Across the European Union, 3.1 million unemployed people found a job between the third and fourth quarters of 2025, equivalent to 22.9% of all those unemployed in the third quarter. Over the same period, 6.9 million people, or 51.9%, remained unemployed, while 3.4 million, or 25.2%, moved out of the labour force.


Changes in larger EU economies

Among larger EU economies, Spain recorded 740,000 unemployed people moving into work in the fourth quarter, up from 690,000 in the third quarter. France rose to 701,000 from 568,000, while Germany increased to 525,000 from 447,000.


Other member states

Portugal recorded 99,000 transitions from unemployment into work in the fourth quarter, down slightly from 101,000 in the previous quarter. Greece fell to 46,000 from 49,000, while Italy dropped to 107,000 from 129,000. Among smaller member states, Austria rose to 91,000 from 84,000, and Ireland increased to 60,000 from 42,000, while Luxembourg edged down to 4,000 from 5,000.
