Cyprus records EU’s steepest fall in agricultural input prices in Q4 2025, Eurostat says

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus posted the largest decline in agricultural input prices in the European Union in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to Eurostat. The data pointed to easing cost pressures for farmers on the island.

Eurostat said the average price of goods and services consumed in agriculture in Cyprus fell by 2.6% in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the same quarter of 2024, the biggest decrease among EU member states.

EU-wide input and output trends

Across the European Union, the average price of agricultural output at the farm gate declined by 1.9% in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, following three consecutive quarters of increases earlier in 2025.
Over the same period, the average price of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture across the EU was unchanged from a year earlier.

Inputs covered and 2025 stability

Eurostat said the goods and services currently consumed in agriculture include non-investment inputs such as energy, fertilisers and feedingstuffs.
It also reported that input prices remained relatively stable throughout 2025, indicating limited overall cost fluctuations for farmers across the bloc during the year.

Output price declines across member states

Agricultural output prices fell in 15 EU countries in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with a year earlier.
Belgium recorded the sharpest decline, with output prices down 12.9%, followed by Lithuania at 8.2% and Germany at 6.0%.
