Nicosia, Cyprus. Retail trade in Cyprus excluding motor vehicles recorded annual growth in both value and volume in December 2025, according to the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat). The figures also showed increases across the full year of 2025 compared with 2024.
December 2025 performance
Cystat reported that the turnover value index of retail trade rose by 5.8 per cent in December 2025 compared with the same month a year earlier. Over the same period, the turnover volume index increased by 8.9 per cent year on year.
The data indicate that retail sales volumes grew faster than values, pointing to increased consumer activity during the month.
Full-year 2025 results
For January to December 2025, the value index was estimated to have increased by 6.1 per cent compared with the same period of 2024. The volume index rose by 7.9 per cent over the same twelve-month period.
Cystat said the figures reflected sustained growth in retail trade throughout 2025 and continued resilience in consumer demand. The report also noted that December 2025 contributed positively to overall retail performance.
