Cyprus tourism arrivals fall 1.7% in June, Cystat data shows

Nicosia, Cyprus. Tourist arrivals to Cyprus fell by 1.7 per cent in June 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier, according to Cyprus Statistical Service data cited by Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis.

The country received 489,965 tourists in June, compared with 498,527 in June 2025, while arrivals during the first six months of 2026 declined by 10.1 per cent year on year.

June arrivals

Koumis described the June result as satisfactory under the circumstances, saying it indicated that Cyprus’ tourism sector had returned to a stable trajectory.

He said the 1.7 per cent decline, compared with June 2025, showed that weaker performances in March and April, which were affected by the conflict in the Middle East, had passed.

Koumis said measures taken by the deputy ministry and the tourism industry to manage the situation faced by the sector from March 1 had produced improved results.

First-half performance

Tourist arrivals between January and June totalled 1,656,015, compared with 1,843,013 during the corresponding period of 2025.

Koumis said the first-half performance was acceptable despite the annual decline. He noted that arrivals were 0.2 per cent higher than in the first six months of 2024.

He said losses recorded in March and April significantly affected the overall figures and added that there was scope for a further reduction in the overall decline during the year.
