Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus’ tourism revenue fell by 35.1 per cent year-on-year in April 2026 to €197.5 million, according to a report from the statistical service, Cystat. The decline came as average tourist spending and average daily spending also decreased.
April revenue decline
Tourism revenue in April 2026 amounted to €197.5 million, compared with €304.2 million in April 2025. The figures marked another weak month for tourism receipts.
January to April performance
For the January to April 2026 period, total tourism revenue is estimated at €443 million, compared with €582.5 million in the same period of 2025. This represents a 23.9 per cent decrease for the first four months of the year.
Passenger survey basis
The figures are based on the passenger survey carried out by Cystat, which records spending by visitors departing from Larnaca and Paphos airports.
Tourist spending and stay
Average expenditure per tourist fell by 10.3 per cent to €651.77 in April 2026, compared with €726.42 in April 2025. Average daily spending also declined to €80.47 per day from €94.34 a year earlier.
Tourists stayed slightly longer on average, with the average length of stay rising to 8.1 days from 7.7 days in April 2025. However, the longer stay was not enough to offset the drop in arrivals and daily spending.
