Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3 per cent in June 2026, placing the country joint lowest in the European Union alongside Bulgaria, according to Eurostat.
The rate declined from 3.1 per cent in May and 3.2 per cent in April, while the number of unemployed people stood at approximately 16,000.

The number of unemployed people in Cyprus was unchanged from May 2026 and down from 17,000 in April 2026.
Youth unemployment among people aged under 25 remained at 7.8 per cent in June, unchanged from the previous month. Eurostat estimated that 2,000 young people were unemployed, matching the May total.
EU and euro area figures
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the euro area stood at 6.3 per cent in June 2026, unchanged from both May 2026 and June 2025.
Across the EU, unemployment remained at 6 per cent, also stable compared with the previous month and the corresponding period a year earlier.
Eurostat estimated that 13.317 million people were unemployed across the EU in June, including 11.130 million in the euro area.
Compared with May, the number of unemployed people increased by 79,000 in the EU and by 71,000 in the euro area.
