Cyprus unemployment rate falls to 4.3% in December 2025, Eurostat says

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 4.3% in December 2025, according to Eurostat. The data showed an improvement from 4.7% in December 2024.


Euro area and EU unemployment rates

Eurostat said the euro area unemployment rate declined to 6.2% in December 2025, down from 6.3% in November 2025 and lower than in December 2024. Across the EU, the unemployment rate stood at 5.9% in December 2025, unchanged from both November 2025 and December 2024.

Total unemployed and monthly changes

Eurostat estimated that 13,043,000 people were unemployed in the EU in December 2025, including 10,792,000 in the euro area. Compared with November 2025, unemployment fell by 94,000 in the EU and by 61,000 in the euro area.

Year-on-year changes

Compared with December 2024, unemployment increased by 71,000 people in the EU but decreased by 5,000 people in the euro area.

Cyprus unemployment and youth figures

In Cyprus, the number of unemployed people fell to about 23,000 in December 2025 from roughly 24,000 in December 2024. Eurostat data also showed that youth unemployment in Cyprus rose, with about 4,000 people under 25 unemployed in December 2025 compared with around 3,000 in December 2024.
