Cyprus welcomes Israel-Lebanon 10-day ceasefire, urges full implementation

Nicosia, Cyprus. Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos welcomed a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon on Friday, stressing the need for full respect and implementation of the agreement.


Call for full respect of the agreement

In a post on X, Kombos said the deal was achieved through continued United States leadership and thanked those involved in securing it. He described the ceasefire as an important step toward de-escalation in the wider region and said it creates prospects for lasting peace.

Cyprus readiness to contribute

Kombos said Cyprus is ready to contribute to efforts in the immediate aftermath of the agreement, calling the current situation a critical opportunity that should be seized.

Emphasis on Lebanon’s sovereignty

He underlined that all parties must fully respect what has been agreed, with particular attention to Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Kombos said strict adherence to the ceasefire terms is vital for stability and for building conditions that can support broader regional security.
