Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyta’s board of directors on Thursday presented its report for the February 2024 to July 2026 term, outlining strategic reforms and investments in digital transformation, telecommunications infrastructure and technology services.
Expanded remit and strategy
The board said its work focused on strengthening Cyta’s position as a connectivity provider while preparing the organisation for a broader role in Cyprus’ digital development.
It said investments in digital transformation, telecommunications infrastructure and technology services had created stronger foundations for customer services, additional opportunities for the economy and support for Cyprus’ wider digital progress.
The report highlighted an expansion of the institutional and legislative framework governing Cyta’s operations. The addition of the technology and energy sectors to Cyta’s remit was described as creating new growth opportunities, strengthening competitiveness and broadening the organisation’s contribution to customers and the country.
The board also approved Cyta’s Corporate Strategy 2025-2027 and established a portfolio of 21 strategic projects intended to support coordinated implementation, monitoring and oversight.
Business transformation
The report highlighted the launch of what Cyta described as the largest business transformation project in its history, involving the modernisation of its information technology systems.
Cyta said implementation had begun and that the programme aims to upgrade systems and business processes, simplify customer service, increase automation, speed up the development of new services and improve the customer experience.
Network investment
The board reported that fibre optic network deployment accelerated during its term, while mobile network capabilities continued to expand and international telecommunications links were strengthened.
According to the report, the investments are expected to provide faster, more reliable and higher-quality services, improve business capabilities and support Cyprus’ position as a regional digital connectivity hub.
