Larnaca, Cyprus. A body in an advanced state of decomposition was discovered in an apartment in Larnaca on Monday, according to police. Authorities said procedures and examinations are underway to identify the body.

Larnaca police spokesperson Spyros Chrysostomou said all appropriate actions are being taken based on the relevant protocol and examinations to identify the body.

According to Chrysostomou, the fire service opened the apartment door after a strong odour was detected.
