Disy backs measures to cut electricity costs, Demetriou tells EAC board and unions

Disy, Demetriou said, has submitted its own proposals to bring the cost of electricity down

Nicosia, Cyprus. Disy will support any action that contributes to cheaper electricity, party president Annita Demetriou said after meeting the Electricity Authority’s board of directors and trade unions on Thursday.

Meeting with EAC board and trade unions

Demetriou met with the Electricity Authority’s (EAC) board of directors and trade unions, where employee strikes and other developments concerning the energy sector were discussed.

Delays and strategy concerns

Demetriou said there had been delays in drafting a final plan to address challenges in the sector and added that the strikes were a result of the absence of a clear strategy.

Disy proposals

Demetriou said Disy has submitted its own proposals aimed at reducing electricity costs and securing adequate energy.
