Moscow, Russia. Ukrainian overnight drone attacks killed six people and injured nine in Russia, damaging warehouse facilities near Moscow and St Petersburg, regional authorities said on Tuesday. Russian guided bomb strikes also killed two children and an elderly woman in Ukraine’s northern city of Sumy.
Attacks in Russia
Five people were killed and six injured after Ukrainian drones targeted the Moscow region, governor Andrei Vorobyov said on Telegram. A warehouse caught fire and was later extinguished, he said, without providing further details.
Near St Petersburg, drones hit a warehouse facility, regional governor Alexander Drozdenko said on Telegram. One person was injured.
Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer and a frequent target of recent Ukrainian attacks, said a warehouse near St Petersburg caught fire but that there were no casualties.
In the Belgorod region near the Ukrainian border, a woman was killed and two people were injured after a drone struck a car overnight, regional authorities said.
Finland lifts aviation restriction
Finland, a member of the European Union and NATO, lifted a temporary aviation restriction area that had briefly been established in the eastern Gulf of Finland, its defence forces said on X.
Strikes in Ukraine
In Sumy, Russian guided bomb strikes killed two children and an elderly woman, regional governor Oleh Hryhorov said on Telegram. Four people sought medical assistance.
Reuters could not independently verify all the reports. Russia and Ukraine both deny targeting civilians in the war that began with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
