Enosis Neon Paralimni FC marks 90th anniversary as president announces €30,000 donation

Ayia Napa, Cyprus. Enosis Neon Paralimni FC marked its 90th anniversary at an event on Friday evening, where President Nikos Christodoulides announced a €30,000 government donation to the club.

Focus on youth development

In remarks at the event, Christodoulides said Paralimni has produced talented players who made “the whole of Cyprus proud.” He said investment was needed in the club’s academies, adding that he was irritated when watching his team field 11 foreign footballers in many cases.

Planned and ongoing infrastructure upgrades

Christodoulides said Paralimni and the district were high on the government’s agenda regarding sports infrastructure. He said upgrades had begun at the Tasos Markou football stadium since his election, with plans to add accessibility for disabled people, improve lighting and replace broken seats.

He also said training facilities were being promoted at Paralimni’s new technical school and that repairs were being carried out at other school grounds. He added that beach volley areas were being rebuilt in Protaras, and that a regional swimming pool and padel courts were in the pipeline.

Donation announcement

Christodoulides announced the €30,000 donation at the end of his speech, joking that it could become €50,000 if the Cyprus Football Association president increased his donation from €5,000 to €20,000.
