Brussels, Belgium. Employment among ICT-educated workers in the European Union increased in 2025, according to Eurostat, with Cyprus recording one of the highest shares of tertiary-qualified workers in the sector.
EU ICT-educated employment growth
Eurostat reported that 3.4 million people were employed in the EU with an education in information and communication technology in 2025, an increase of 5.1 per cent from 3.2 million in 2024.
Cyprus educational attainment
Cyprus recorded 96.4 per cent of ICT-educated workers holding tertiary qualifications, placing it among leading EU countries alongside Denmark and France, where the majority of ICT professionals have completed higher education.
Qualifications across the EU
Across the EU, 74.8 per cent of ICT-educated workers held tertiary degrees. The remaining 25.2 per cent had upper secondary or post-secondary education.
Gender imbalance in ICT employment
Men accounted for 83.4 per cent of ICT-educated employees in 2025, with around 2.8 million men employed in the sector compared with approximately 0.6 million women. Eurostat data showed the number of women in ICT employment fell by 2.6 per cent from 2024, with their share declining from 17.9 per cent to 16.6 per cent, despite increases over the past decade.
