Nicosia, Cyprus. Farmers will drive their tractors into Nicosia on Monday, February 16, to protest problems they say are affecting the sector and to demand immediate solutions. Their organisations announced the planned action on Tuesday.
Planned demonstration outside agricultural payment organisation
Farmers will demonstrate at 11.30am outside the Cyprus agricultural payment organisation, saying they have not yet been paid benefits despite assurances that the funds were to be deposited by December 2025.
Concerns over payment reductions
Farmers who did receive payments said portions of their benefits had been cut, which they described as unjustified.
Organisations cite impact on income and sector viability
Agricultural organisations met on February 3 in Larnaca to decide on measures, saying they continue to face problems that directly affect income, productive activity and, by extension, the viability of the sector.
Call for participation
The organisations called on all farmers to join the protest.
