Nicosia, Cyprus. The FBI’s New York office worked with Cyprus’ cybercrime unit in a case that led to the arrest of a 53-year-old man later sentenced in the United States to 12 years in prison for online child sexual abuse.

Cyprus police said they helped identify some of the victims, who were aged 13 to 17.

Investigation and cooperation

Police said the investigation began in 2020 after the cybercrime unit received information. Authorities later established that the suspect, who was residing in the United States, had targeted multiple underage victims across several states.

Arrest and sentencing

The man was arrested on January 29 and was later sentenced to 12 years in prison without the possibility of early release.
