Nicosia, Cyprus. The anticipated initial public offerings of Anthropic and OpenAI could rank among the most consequential market events of a generation by establishing valuation benchmarks for AI-native companies, according to Alexey Garyunov, general partner at FinSight Ventures.
Garyunov said the Cyprus-based fund is positioning ahead of such a moment while investing in generative AI and fintech opportunities across global markets.
Investment focus
FinSight Ventures’ portfolio includes generative AI unicorns Databricks and Scale AI, alongside fintech investments in Uzbekistan and India.
The fund operates from Cyprus at the intersection of international capital, focusing on areas that many institutional investors do not examine, Garyunov said.
Cyprus investor appetite
Garyunov said investors based in Cyprus do not form a single profile and range across the full risk spectrum and asset classes.
Some investors favour more conservative allocations such as fixed income and real estate, while others seek high-risk, high-growth exposure, he said.
He added that the latter group includes technology entrepreneurs and family offices that have made Cyprus their home, including founders of companies such as Plata and Finom.
According to Garyunov, the concentration of operator capital, together with technology hubs operating on the island, shapes the local appetite for technology investment.
