Kalo Chorio, Cyprus. Firefighting crews and aircraft were mobilised on Monday after a fire broke out at the Kalo Chorio firing range following National Guard live-fire exercises and spread beyond the site.
Firefighting response
Fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said three fire engines from Larnaca attended the scene, with additional ground forces deployed to support the operation.
The forestry department also provided three firefighting aircraft, which carried out water drops around the perimeter of the fire to help contain it.
Operation coordination
The affected area falls under the forestry department’s operational responsibility. The department coordinated the firefighting operation.
