Five arrested in Cyprus during coordinated night-time police operations

Nicosia, Cyprus. Five people were arrested during coordinated police operations carried out across Cyprus on Monday night. Police conducted vehicle inspections, premises checks and traffic controls during the patrols.


Vehicle and individual checks

During the night-time patrols, police stopped 296 vehicles for inspection and checked 351 individuals travelling in them.

Premises inspections

Twenty-one premises were inspected as part of efforts to combat delinquency, resulting in one complaint.

Traffic enforcement and alcohol testing

Traffic controls led to 122 reports for various violations, including two cases of driving under the influence of alcohol. A total of 52 alcohol tests were conducted, while six vehicles were seized during the operations.

Ongoing operations

Police said coordinated crime-prevention and suppression operations continue on a daily basis, involving an enhanced presence, targeted inspections and immediate interventions aimed at protecting the public and strengthening safety.
