Forest fire in Kampia brought under control after burning 100 square metres

Kampia, Cyprus. A forest fire that broke out in the village of Kampia in Nicosia district was fully brought under control by 10.20am on Monday, the forestry department said. The fire started about half an hour earlier.


Fire response

The forestry department said the fire was swiftly contained thanks to early detection and the rapid response of firefighting teams.

Area affected

Around 100 square metres of land were burned by the fire.

Firefighting teams deployed

Nine forest firefighters and two fire engines from the forestry department were deployed to tackle the blaze, alongside three firefighters and one fire engine from the fire brigade.

Investigation

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
