Paris, France. Former French Socialist Prime Minister Lionel Jospin has died at the age of 88, broadcaster BFM reported.

Jospin served as head of government under centre-right President Jacques Chirac from 1997 to 2002 during cohabitation, a term used in France when the president and the prime minister come from opposing camps.
